We break down the stats and figures from the Baldurs Gate team on how the opening week went with the game. We heard crazy stats like 800 thousand online and downloaded the game via Steam, but what other crazy decisions have transpired in the realm?
368 Finishers
Through opening weekend we saw 368 players fully complete the game storyline. We were predicting more, but definitely watched a few speed demons on Twitch take it on.
Character Creation
We can attest to this being the bulk of our time. Who wants to roll a crap character to only have to do it all again? Also, the unreal amount of gender and genital options was astounding. 88 years in character creation doesn’t seem long enough.
Origin Selection – (Shadowheart is the real winner)
We have heard through the grapevine that Karlach and Astarion are the most popular choices these days. Shadowheart has been the most entertaining to see and though we have a few staff members who played with Gale… we ultimately agree with the fact that they die most often.
Class / Race Choices
If you didn’t pick Drow.. well we’re just saying you’re missing out. However, the Halfelf, Human, and Elf being the top choices were not all that surprising. The Githyanki in the early beta tests was actually more fun as a race than we think people give it credit for.
As far as class choices its a fairly even spread except for obviously the Paladin being the cheap choice… yes its easy… Although we enjoyed Cleric way more in the later runs.
Romance – Oh the romance…
Gotta up your game to get Astarion to love you up… however we haven’t had luck yet, so guess we can’t really say much. Gale was just too easy.
The friendly fire deaths were just hilarious and its probably why it happens so often. We found ourselves laughing for hours with that one.
Good or Bad… choose bad next time
Seriously, just play like a total jackass and see how dark the game really gets. Give in to your dark side. Thats all we’ll say.
