New Pokémon Trading Card Game Expansion: Scarlet & Violet—Paradox Rift

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is getting a new expansion on November 3, 2023, called Scarlet & Violet—Paradox Rift. This expansion will feature over 180 new cards, including brand-new Ancient and Future Pokémon, more Pokémon ex, and type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex.

Here is a sneak peek at some of the new cards:

Mantyke

This illustration rare card shows Mantyke swimming alongside a school of Remoraid. Mantyke’s attack, Buoyant Healing, allows you to heal 120 damage from one of your Benched Pokémon.

Chien-Pao

This card shows Chien-Pao leaping into action, its sword-like fangs bared. Chien-Pao’s attack, Wrathful Blade, does 130 damage, but requires you to discard two Energy from the Pokémon when you use it. Its Snow Bringer attack allows you to reattach two Basic Water Energy cards from your discard pile.

Gholdengo ex

This Pokémon ex has an Ability called Coin Bonus, which allows you to draw a card during your turn. If Gholdengo ex is in the Active Spot, you can draw two cards instead. Its attack, Make It Rain, does 50 damage for each Basic Energy card you discard from your hand.

Absol

This card features Absol in Shinji Kanda’s trademark sketchy style. Absol’s attack, Drawareness, allows you to discard until you have four or fewer cards in hand, and then draw back up to five. This can be useful for reworking your strategy if you find yourself in a pinch.

Professor Sada’s Vitality

This Supporter card allows you to pick two of your Ancient Pokémon and attach a Basic Energy card from your discard pile to each one. You also get to draw three cards.
